UPDATE 13/11/15: After gaining a million and a half views in less than five days, the Open Gates video was taken down by YouTube following a copyright infringement. Although the rights company involved in the claim has been named in allegedly spurious claims in the past, there is no reason to suggest that is the case with this video. This article now links to a video mirror on Dutch website Dumpert.

Detroit, MI — While applying for the position of sheriff’s deputy, a man facing multiple felony sex abuse charges was arrested this week before nearly becoming a cop. Although no red flags appeared in a national database during his background check, the investigator conducting the check discovered numerous out-of-state warrants for sex crimes.

In September, 25-year-old John Wesley Rose applied for an officer position at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. The entry-level job would have placed him in the jail as a guard. Unbeknownst to the sheriff’s office, Rose was wanted in Kentucky on felony charges, including two counts of sexual abuse, four counts of sodomy, and one count of rape.   Continue reading “Wanted Serial Rapist Arrested in Police Station — As He Was Becoming a Cop”

Officials in one Missouri city can jail citizens simply because they have not paid fines for such trivial matters as having dead vegetables, hosting a barbeque and even walking on the wrong side of the sidewalk.

The actions by politicians in Pagedale, Missouri, have prompted a federal lawsuit that could shut down what appears to be an unconstitutional code enforcement for profit.   Continue reading “This American City Jails Citizens For Having Garden Weeds (Yes, Really)”

When three Virginia police officers put Linwood Lambert in a squad car around 5 a.m. on May 4, 2013, they said they were taking him to the ER for medical attention because he was speaking delusionally. Just over an hour later, Lambert died in police custody.

He was never given medical care, though the officers of South Boston, Va. did drive him to the hospital. He was not initially put under arrest, though the officers ultimately arrested him, shackled his hands and legs, and tased him repeatedly.  While in custody he was agitated and ran from the officers. Ambulance workers say police later claimed he fought them at a time when videos show he was actually unconscious. Police dispute that account and deny allegations of excessive force.   Continue reading “Driven to hospital, Virginia man tased, shackled and dies in police custody”
