A British doctor working in Sierra Leone has described the horror he and his team have witnessed since the deadly Ebola outbreak struck.

Dr Oliver Johnson, along with a team of British medics, was working to strengthen the health system in the country’s capital Freetown when the crisis took hold earlier.

When disaster struck, they decided to stay and ‘do everything they could’ to help – despite health workers being among those most at risk of contracting the virus.    Continue reading “British doctor working in Sierra Leone describes the horror of deadly disease”

On May 18, 2014, I received a call from my 22 year old autistic son. I immediately got in my truck and went to where my son was being ticketed. When I drove up on the right hand side of the road, adjacent to my son’s car, I did not leave my vehicle and I kept it running. The officer turned around and asked, “Can I help you?” I said, “I’m his father.”  The officer yelled at me to please leave the premises. I stated, “I’m his father, and just wanted to tell you he is autistic.” He turned around and said, “Leave or you’ll be arrested.”   Continue reading “Man Tased While Trying to Tell Deputies That Son Is Autistic”

US is Bankrupt: $89.5 Trillion in US Liabilities vs. $82 Trillion in Household Net Worth & The Gap is Growing. We Now Await the Nature of the Cramdown.

There are many ways to look at the United States government debt, obligations, and assets.  Liabilities include Treasury debt held by the public or more broadly total Treasury debt outstanding.  There’s unfunded liabilities like Medicare and Social Security.  And then the assets of all the real estate, all the equities, all the bonds, all the deposits…all at today’s valuations.  But let’s cut straight to the bottom line and add it all up…$89.5 trillion in liabilities and $82 trillion in assets.  There.  It’s not a secret anymore…and although these are all government numbers, for some strange reason the government never adds them all together or explains them…but we will. Given the Marxist misery the Obama regime is spreading like farmer’s manure on their way to Utopia, legions have long suspected that the Democrats own a monopoly on evil. But recent antics of their star performers Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid et al may indicate that they’re plain crazy too.

Barack Hussein Obama, who has recently taken up repeating “The Bear is Loose’ during his random, royal walkabouts in lunchtime D.C., must have been thinking of Nancy Pelosi, who came on like a screeching banshee, not once but twice chasing down Republican Representative Tom Marino of Pennsylvania through the House Chamber.   Continue reading “Evil and plain crazy not a healthy combination”

Guns Save Lives – by Dan Cannon

This story just goes to show that you can’t rely on living in a fancy gated community to prevent violent crime. Also, the phrase don’t bring a knife to a gunfight comes to mind.

Three men showed up at a home in Wellington, Florida and got into a dispute with the son of the homeowner. When one of the men pulled a knife and threatened the homeowner, the homeowner protected himself and his family.   Continue reading “FL Homeowner in Gated Community Shoots 1 of 2 Intruders Armed With a Knife”

Few terms in the gun world capture the imagination of gun owners as much as “Desert Eagle” and “1911″.

Of course, the Desert Eagle has become synonymous with big bore semi-auto handguns, namely the Desert Eagle .50AE hand cannon.

Likewise, there are few gun designs more timeless and more owned than the venerable 1911 pistol.   Continue reading “Desert Eagle 1911 – Yes, Apparently That’s a Real Thing Now”

Increasingly, post-9/11, under the rubric of “privatization,” though it should more accurately have been called “corporatization,” the Pentagon took a series of crony companies off to war with it.  In the process, it gave “capitalist war” a more literal meaning, thanks to its wholesale financial support of, and the shrugging off of previously military tasks onto, a series of warrior corporations. Gideon, the pseudonymous public defender who blogs at A Public Defender, has a thorough rundown of a very disturbing ruling recently issued by the Connecticut Supreme Court. It involves every Connecticut citizens’ civil liberties, which have now been thrown under a bus bearing the name “officer safety.”

The court’s decision basically makes everyone a suspect, even if they’re suspected of nothing else than being in the relative proximity of someone a police officer suspects of committing a crime, or someone simply “matching the description.” How does this work in practice? Gideon posits a single scenario, as interpreted by the person being (wrongly) detained and those doing the actual detaining.   Continue reading “Connecticut Supreme Court Says State Cops Can Detain You Simply For Being In The Vicinity Of Someone They’re Arresting”
