Cleveland, Ohio – 59-year-old Ricky Jackson was recently awarded $1 million for spending 39 years in jail for a crime that he did not commit.

Jackson spent more time in jail than any other exonerated person in US history.

Jackson was wrongfully charged with murder in 1975, and spent his days in prison until the only witness of the murder came forward and recanted his testimony, nearly 40 years later.   Continue reading “Innocent Man Who Wrongfully Spent 39 Years in Prison, Becomes Ohio’s Newest Millionaire”

China’s Place in the New World Economic Order … Competition between the world’s two greatest economic powers is both inevitable and (for the most part) beneficial. This is the case even when China and the U.S. are arguing over control of increasingly obsolescent international financial institutions. – Bloomberg

Dominant Social Theme: The New World Order is coming to town?

Free-Market Analysis: It used to be those who used the phrase “New World Order” were derided as conspiracy theorists. So what do we call Bloomberg now that its lead editorial for Friday trumpets the term?   Continue reading “West Must Help China Build ‘New World Order’?”

Tyeesha Mobley, the mother of Keyshawn 4, and Tyleke, 9, is suing the NYPD, claiming officers falsely arrested her after she called cops to teach one of her sons about why stealing is wrong. DNA Info – by James Fanelli

MORRISANIA — A Bronx mom of two who called 911 to ask police to come talk to her young son about why stealing is bad was wrongfully arrested and told by an NYPD officer “you black b—-es don’t know how to take care of your kids,” a new lawsuit charges.

Tyeesha Mobley, 29, is suing the city, the NYPD and the Administration for Children’s Services, claiming she was handcuffed, roughed up and had her two children taken away from her for four months — all because of an innocuous request to have officers teach her 9-year-old about right and wrong.   Continue reading “Mom Arrested After Asking Police to Talk to Young Son About Stealing: Suit”

ADEN, Yemen (AP) — Yemeni security officials say al-Qaida’s branch in the country has taken control of a southern city after security forces surrendered.

The officials say that al-Qaida militants driving pickup trucks and flying black flags on Friday swept through the city of al-Houta, the capital of Lahj province. They took over the main security barracks, the governor’s office, and the intelligence headquarters, which houses prisons with al-Qaida detainees.   Continue reading “3 suicide bombings target Shiite rebel mosques in Yemen”

Probably Not…Take a Look: This is the 1895 eighth-grade final exam from Salina, Kansas.

The following document was transcribed from the original document in the collection of the Smoky Valley Genealogy Society, Salina, Kansas. This test is the original eighth-grade final exam for 1895 from Salina, Kansas. An interesting note is the fact that the county students taking this test were allowed to take the test in the 7th grade, and if they did not pass the test at that time, they were allowed to re-take it again in the 8th grade. Also of note, the school year was but 7 months, beginning October 1 and ending April 1. allowing 5 months for planting, farming and harvest.   Continue reading “Could You Have Passed the 8th Grade in 1895?”

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Just when flowering bulbs were poking out their heads and snow shovels were getting a well-deserved rest, winter weather has come back. And on the first day of spring no less.

Forecasters say a storm will dump up to 6 inches of snow on the Northeast and mid-Atlantic on Friday. New England will be on the lower end of the snow totals but even Boston, which has seen a record 108.6 inches of snow, could get an inch or 2 more.   Continue reading “Northeast gets another blast of winter on 1st day of spring”

In a survival story his doctors call extraordinary, a 22-month-old Pennsylvania boy whose lifeless body was pulled from an icy creek was revived after an hour and 41 minutes of CPR and has suffered virtually no lingering effects.

Gardell Martin came home from the hospital on Sunday, and his doctors said Thursday he has made a full recovery. “It’s not only extraordinarily rare that we got the kid back, but what’s even more extraordinary is the rate at which he recovered and the completeness of his recovery,” said Dr. Frank Maffei, director of the pediatric intensive care unit at Geisinger’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Danville. “The stars and moon aligned, and he had an angel on his shoulder.”   Continue reading “Toddler survives near-drowning after 101 minutes of CPR”

Do you enjoy saving a buck more than most people?  Do you have a black belt in frugality? Here are 20 surefire signs that you are embracing your cheap side.  How many things on this list apply to you?

  1. You take it as a personal challenge to see how long you can go without spending money. The game is even better if you have a spouse or friend with whom you can compete.
  2. You don’t let food go to waste. You have an ice cream tub in your freezer nearly full of odd bits of leftovers, awaiting their reincarnation into “leftover casserole” or “leftover soup”.

Federal drug agents may be racially profiling and unjustly seizing cash from travelers in the nation’s airports, bus stations and train stations. A new report released by the Office of the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Justice examined the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)’s controversial use of “cold consent.”

In a cold consent encounter, a person is stopped if an agent thinks that person’s behavior fits a drug courier profile. Or an agent can stop a person cold “based on no particular behavior,” according to the Inspector General report. The agent then asks people they have stopped for consent to question them and sometimes to search their possessions as well. By gaining consent, law enforcement officers can bypass the need for a warrant.   Continue reading “The DEA Is Seizing Cash Without Warrants In Its Version Of Stop-and-Frisk”

Adult interrogation methods do not belong in the classroom, so why are school administrators throughout the United States being trained to use them on their students in order to extract confessions?

John E. Reid & Associates is the largest interrogation trainer in the world and teaches such methods to hundreds of school administrators each year . Last month, members of the Illinois Principals Association, for instance, could register for a “professional development” event on “Investigative Interviewing and Active Persuasion”. The School Administrators Association of New York State recently offered a workshop for administrators on this same topic, titled “Are you Sure They Are Telling the Truth”?   Continue reading “School officials learning coercive interrogations tactics to extract confessions from kids”

A homeless man uses an umbrella to hold off the water. (CBS SF)CBS San Franscisco – by Doug Sovern

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — KCBS has learned that Saint Mary’s Cathedral, the principal church of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, has installed a watering system to keep the homeless from sleeping in the cathedral’s doorways.

They say the only two things that are certain in life are death and taxes. President Barack Obama wants to add one more: voting.

Obama floated the idea of mandatory voting in the U.S. while speaking to a civic group in Cleveland on Wednesday. Asked about the influence of money in U.S. elections, Obama digressed into the topic of voting rights and said the U.S. should be making it easier for people to vote.   Continue reading “Obama floats making voting mandatory, calling it ‘potentially transformative’”

Did some quick research on my computer about one of the persons behind this Jade Helm operation (articles herehere and here) and it looks like this may involve people who are experts in counterinsurgency and military occupation.  There might even be a chance some Latin American forces could be involved unofficially..

I looked at the contacts on the last slide of the presentation on your website and decided to check into Francisco Oquendo, the Jade Helm Operations planner.  I went with him because the name was unique enough to get a solid lead.  He is a former 7th SF soldier.   Continue reading “Info on a Jade Helm Operations Planner”

“Give up your dreams, if you must. Cease dreaming altogether. Call those dreams and ambitions and visions…delusions. Then you will be ready. Then you can truly serve humanity. You can fall back into the arms of the many who will receive you with love. You’ll become an empty vessel through which miracles are channeled. One day Oprah will interview you.” (The Underground, Jon Rappoport)
