WASHINGTON — Corey Statham had $46 in his pockets when he was arrested in Ramsey County, Minn., and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released two days later, and the charges were dismissed.

But the county kept $25 of Mr. Statham’s money as a “booking fee.” It returned the remaining $21 on a debit card subject to an array of fees. In the end, it cost Mr. Statham $7.25 to withdraw what was left of his money.   Continue reading “Charged a Fee for Getting Arrested, Whether Guilty or Not”

If President-elect Donald Trump wanted to show he planned to obliterate President Barack Obama’s approach to Israel, he may have found his man to deliver that message in David Friedman, his pick for U.S. ambassador.

The bankruptcy lawyer and son of an Orthodox rabbi is everything Obama is not: a fervent supporter of Israeli settlements, opponent of Palestinian statehood and unrelenting defender of Israel’s government. So far to the right is Friedman that even many Israel supporters worry he could push Israel’s hawkish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be more extreme, scuttling prospects for peace with Palestinians in the process.   Continue reading “Donald Trump’s pick for ambassador to Israel, has all sides on edge”

The Nebraska Supreme Court just made it harder for gun owners to drive through the state without running afoul of the law. The justices unanimously ruled Friday that a driver must have a concealed carry permit even when his gun is stored in an inaccessible part of the vehicle — a precedent that may leave SUV owners with limited travel options.

The justices set the new standard while reviewing the case of Joseph D. Senn Jr, who was behind the wheel of a U-Haul on October 4, 2014 with a 9mm pistol in a box, tucked away on the back passenger side of the moving truck, out of reach under a pile of clothes.   Continue reading “Nebraska Supreme Court Says Gun In A U-Haul Requires Permit”

WEB Notes: Numerous Christian websites are touting this as some horrible knock against “God’s chosen people”. The notion that God’s chosen people are so called “jews” is a lie, it is the biggest lie placed upon Christians today. Have you ever asked yourself, chosen for what? Chosen to spread God’s Word, the Bible to the world. God’s chosen people the Twelve Tribes of Israel, not just Juda. God is not a respecter of persons (Romans 2:11), meaning He does not place one person or group of people above another. Continue reading “Israel To Re-Assess U.N.
