Americans are accustomed to snide criticism from abroad of America’s gun culture (National Gun Rights Examiner and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership contributor David Codreadissects a recent example here). In many cases, gun rightsadvocates in this country should be glad of such criticism, coming as it does from places where the governments and their lapdog media can best honor us only with their vitriolic condemnation. Health warnings for travelers alerting them to the potentially deadly disease MERS, or Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, are being posted at airport security checkpoints in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego and 16 other airports nationwide.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta reports two confirmed cases of MERS in the U.S., one in Indiana on May 2 and another in Orlando, Fla., on Sunday. The two cases are unrelated, the CDC says in a statement, though all cases of the virus have been traced back to the Middle East. As the American military draws down its commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan, stateside ports, armories, depots and warehouses are packed with excess military material and vehicles, some of them none-the-worse from their tours in overseas war zones.

MILTON, Wash. — A SWAT officer used a Taser to subdue an armed 80-year-old man after he charged at him in his wheelchair shouting, “I have nothing to live for.”

Back in the beginning of your relationship, it seemed like the supermarket had so much to offer. The produce sparkled under the fluorescent lights. The colorful packages were inviting and said all of the right things. The meat was all tidily wrapped up in plastic and styrofoam, with nary a drip in sight.
Then one day, you woke up and the honeymoon was over. Like any dysfunctional relationship, as you got to know the grocery store better, you learned that things weren’t as great as they’d seemed in the beginning. In fact, you’d been misled – the things you thought were healthy weren’t really healthy at all. It was all a lie – most of what the store was selling you wasn’t even actually food. National Park Service and California State Parks Law Enforcement Park Rangers and Investigators working cooperatively have arrested and charged felony Grand Theft, Vandalism, and Receiving Stolen Property against Danny E. Garcia of Orick, California for the poaching of old growth redwood burls from the park. Charges are pending against another individual who is currently serving time for unassociated charges. An Infowars.com reader has emailed a brochure released by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). The brochure describes the responsibility of doctors and health care professionals under the Firearm Owner Identification (FOID) Mental Health Reporting System as part of the Firearm Concealed Carry Act (PA 98-063). The law requires clinicians and facilities to report patients who own firearms they believe pose a “clear and present danger” to themselves or others. The second US patient to be diagnosed with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) waited four hours before he was seen by doctors in Florida as 20 health care workers await test results for the deadly virus.
After sitting in the crowded waiting room of the Dr. P. Phillips Hospital in Orlando for four hours before being seen by a physician, it took another 8 hours for medical personnel to determine the patient had traveled from Saudi Arabia, one of the countries experiencing an outbreak of the disease, which is estimated to kill about one-third of infected people. Florida police are investigating an incident in which nearly two-dozen officers fired a torrent of bullets at two unarmed men, killing both of them, injuring other officers, and risking the lives of neighboring residents.
The incident began late last year, when Adrian Montesano reportedly robbed a Walgreens store at gunpoint and, in the aftermath, shot Miami Dade Police Officer Saul Rodriguez. Montesano took off in Rodriguez’s police vehicle after the shooting, dropped it off at his grandmother’s house, and fled again in a blue Volvo. SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — In less than 10 minutes after his mother dropped him off at school on the morning of Oct. 21, 2013, seventh-grader Jose Reyes and a popular middle school teacher lay on the school yard, dead from gunshot wounds. Two classmates were wounded and a school was in panic.
After seventh months and an exhaustive police investigation that produced a report of 1,300 pages, authorities on Tuesday released an in-depth report about the shooting that painted a picture of bullying, depression and a normal school day turning violent in the matter of minutes. Still, authorities aren’t sure they fully understand what motivated the 12-year-old Reyes to take his parents’ 9mm Ruger pistol and two magazines of ammunition to school that day.
