WASHINGTON (AP) — Fallout from President Donald Trump’s reaction to violent, racial clashes in Virginia over the weekend continued in the business community with another resignation from a federal panel of executives that was created to advise him.

Following the departure of chief executives for Merck, Under Armour and Intel, the president of the Alliance for American Manufacturing stepped down Tuesday. Scott Paul, in a tweet, said, “I’m resigning from the Manufacturing Jobs Initiative because it’s the right thing for me to do.”   Continue reading “When the Commander in Chief clashes with chief executives”

They’re armed, trained on the use of their weapons and with a duty, they say, to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

Armed groups of private citizens have increasingly been taking on a security function at public events where the possibility of violent protest exists, including the past weekend at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Va.

“We’ve seen violent clashes in the past between the left and the right, that’s nothing new,” says Daryl Johnson, who spent years as a Department of Homeland Security analyst. The new wrinkle, he says, is “guys walking around in military garb with guns. You think that’s the police but in reality it’s the local militia or The Three Percenters.”   Continue reading “Militias a ‘chilling’ presence at rallies but few signs of violence, so far”

Charneshia Corley, 23, was pulled over for jumping a red light on June 21, 2015, when officers say they smelled marijuana in her car.

There then followed a 15-minute search during which she says a female officer told her to spread her legs so she could inspect it with a flashlight.

Now Corley, who is suing Harris County as a result of the incident, is demanding a special prosecutor be appointed to deal with the case, Chron reported.  Continue reading “Cop strip-searches woman, 23, outside gas station”

Imagine, asking a police officer to treat citizens with respect only to have them swear at you, taser and arrest you. When you ask why you’ve been arrested, they inform you that you are being charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. (The real reason you were arrested, you challenged their authority.)

But something strange, happened during your arrest.  You overheard an officer use a ‘code word’.

What did the ‘code word’ mean? Are the police using secret ‘code words’ to justify their misconduct and illegal arrest?   Continue reading “Police use ‘code words’ to warn fellow officers they are abusing citizens”

A majority of cities—71 percent—will see Obamacare premiums rise by double-digits next year as more health insurers drop out of the exchanges, according to a report from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Undeterred by the violence over the planned removal of a Confederate statue in Charlottesville, Virginia, municipal leaders in cities across the United States said they would step up efforts to pull such monuments from public spaces.

The mayors of Baltimore and Lexington, Kentucky, said they would push ahead with plans to remove statues caught up in a renewed national debate over whether monuments to the U.S. Civil War’s pro-slavery Confederacy are symbols of heritage or hate.   Continue reading “U.S. cities ramp up removal of Confederate statues”

Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control officials will begin canvassing West Covina residences early next month to check compliance with rabies vaccinations and dog licensing requirements.

The campaign is one of several measures aimed at increasing revenue for the city this year. Pet owners are required to pay licensing fees of $60 per dog to the city, according to a city statement. Fees for spayed or neutered dogs are $22 or $10 for dogs belonging to senior citizens. Disabled veterans are required to pay a reduced fee of $10 for spayed or neutered dogs.   Continue reading “Animal control officers to go door-door to make sure dog owners have paid their license fees”

The entire Left-wing media has erupted today over the so-called “white nationalist” protest in Charlottesville where right-wing groups are protesting the systematic destruction of war monuments and white history in general. It’s worth noting that if the same event were flipped to Muslims, or African-Americans or women, it would be heralded by the Left-wing media as “courageous resistance” against tyranny and oppression. But because the attendees are mostly white conservatives, the event is portrayed as a neo-Nazi, almost “KKK” rally-ish in nature, which is of course a wild misrepresentation of what’s actually happening there. As usual, the Left totally freaks out over everything and sees pointy white hats everywhere they look.   Continue reading “Why this all ends in civil war: Radical Left-wing fascism and intolerance meets right-wing nationalism and resistance”

Liberty Blitzkrieg – by Michael Krieger

I’m going to keep this relatively short. I’ve written thousands of articles over the years, and anyone who’s read me for any period of time knows where I stand when it comes to hatred, bigotry and violence. I find all these things repulsive, and think people who gravitate to such behavior to be operating on such a low level of awareness, it’s genuinely hard for me to believe these people exist in real life.

I published my seminal piece discussing the repulsion I feel with today’s political environment back in February in the post, Lost in the Political Wilderness. Now’s a perfect time to reread that piece, but here’s an excerpt if you’re short on time:  Continue reading “Don’t Play Into The Divide & Conquer Game”

There is no conclusive evidence that marijuana helps with chronic pain and post-traumatic stress disorder, experts say.

Since legislation, 80 percent of medical marijuana patients use it for chronic pain and about 33 percent use it for PTSD.

However, experts warn that there isn’t enough research to confirm it is effective for users.  Continue reading “There is NO conclusive evidence that marijuana helps with chronic pain and PTSD, 20-year study finds”
