Science Alert – by Peter Dockrill
It began with sinkholes. Two of them, gaping mouths to nowhere opening up as if to swallow the town of Wink, Texas. As they expanded, there were fears they might collide, morphing into one giant void.
They first emerged in 1980, and things haven’t gotten better since. Now, an unprecedented study reveals Wink and its vast sinkholes are just a tiny part of a much bigger problem – a vast stretch of historical oil fields that are heaving and sinking, covering an area almost the size of Connecticut. As a reminder, Andrew Ross Sorkin wrote in the NY Times that banks could control guns, if Washington won’t. Continue reading “Citigroup Enforces Gun Control Restrictions On Customers”
AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) – Federal investigators on Thursday combed through the home of the 23-year-old they say was behind this month’s deadly Texas bombing spree, seeking clues about what motivated his attacks the day after he killed himself in a confrontation with police.
Mark Conditt, an unemployed man from the Austin suburb of Pflugerville, confessed to the three-week string of bombings in a 25-minute video found on his cellphone, police said. Conditt blew himself up with one of his own bombs on Wednesday as police closed in on him in his car. Continue reading “Investigators scour Texas bomber’s home, searching for a motive”
Three cities in affluent Orange County, California are suing over proposals to set up temporary homeless shelters in their area. California has the largest homeless population in the US and the plans have residents fearful.

Now it’s getting more and more like L.A.,” Rob Howard, an office manager in Irvine, told the LA Times. “Who wants tons of traffic, high prices and all kinds of unwanted people around you? SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Two officers yelled for a suspect to show his hands, then shouted “Gun! Gun! Gun!” moments before fatally shooting the man, who turned out to be unarmed, audio from body camera footage released by Sacramento police shows.

The shooting happened in the backyard of the man’s grandparents’ home, where he was staying. The police did not find a gun at the scene. The Organic Prepper – by J.G. Martinez D.
I have never been too interested in politics – not other than major events or some regional news – until I went through a process of accelerated growth of my political conscience. This is not going to be an extremely prepper-oriented article, but I hope it will provide some guidance to identify some uncommon situations that happened in Venezuela, and add critical info to our spreadsheet, allowing you to make an informed choice. There are startling similarities between the Ukrainian genocide and the depopulation of Venezuela. WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Bureau of Land Management on Tuesday auctioned off more than 51,000 acres (21,000 hectares) in southeastern Utah for oil and gas development, a sign of strong industry demand in a region conservationists have vowed to protect.
