The New Year is one full of economic, political, and war threats.
Among the economic threats are stock, bond, and real estate markets artificially pumped up by years of central bank money creation and by false reports of full employment. It is an open question whether participants in these markets are aware that underlying reality does not support the asset values. Central banks support stock markets not only with abundant liquidity but also with direct stock purchases. The Japanese central bank is now one of the largest owners of Japanese equities. Central banks, which are supposed to provide economic stability, have created a massive fraud. Continue reading “How Much Death and Destruction Awaits Us in 2018?”

Last week, as the trial of Cliven, Ammon, and Ryan Bundy, along with Ryan Payne got underway, we reported on bombshells that were dropped by government witness Mary Ann Rugwell (my apologies for misspelling her name in the previous report), in which she testified that the Bureau of Land Management was not only supposed to merely round up the cattle and give them back to the Bundys, but that Cliven only owed $8,815 in trespass fees over ten years, not millions.
Just so we’re clear, even Fox News continues promoting the narrative that the Bundys owe millions to the government. Continue reading “Just How Much Did Cliven Bundy Actually Owe? See The Document For Yourself – It Wasn’t Millions”
Piles of snow from Winter Storm Frankie and a bitter arctic blast settled over much of North America have proven to be a miserable and deadly combination.
The bitter cold that has reached temperatures as low as negative 36 degrees Fahrenheit in International Falls, Minnesota, this week has been responsible for a slew of unusual reports, including the death of a dog left to freeze to death on a front porch, as well as sharks succumbing to the elements. It’s so cold, in fact, that the annual Lobster Dip at Old Orchard Beach in Maine was rescheduled for the first time in 30 years, the Associated Press reports. When Bill Gandy was growing up in Northview Heights in the 1970s and 80s, no one had to show identification to get in. But now there are armed guards and 200 security cameras dotted around this sprawling, isolated public housing project run by the Pittsburgh City Housing Authority. Everyone who enters has to show ID, every time.
“It just feels like a prison system to have a checkpoint in front of a neighborhood,” Gandy says. “That’s already a bad start, to tell you the truth. It’s like going into a military camp.” Continue reading “Residents fled gun violence at a Pittsburgh public housing project. But refugees are still moving in.”

In addition to his “War on Cannabis,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions recently revealed that he is also in favor of a “War on Poverty,” when he rescinded a legal guidance document that was meant to end illegal debtors’ prisons.
While debtors’ prisons are labeled as institutions to keep people from failing to pay fines and debts, they have been used to take advantage of impoverished, low-income individuals. A simple traffic ticket can turn into months in prison, which results in even greater fines. As defined by the American Civil Liberties Union: Continue reading “Jeff Sessions Rescinds Legal Doc to Allow Police to Jail People for Being Poor”

IN SEPTEMBER OF last year, we noted that Facebook representatives were meeting with the Israeli government to determine which Facebook accounts of Palestinians should be deleted on the ground that they constituted “incitement.” The meetings — called for and presided over by one of the most extremist and authoritarian Israeli officials, pro-settlement Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked — came after Israel threatened Facebook that its failure to voluntarily comply with Israeli deletion orders would result in the enactment of laws requiring Facebook to do so, upon pain of being severely fined or even blocked in the country. (LAS VEGAS) — Two Las Vegas security guards were fatally shot Saturday while investigating a disturbance in a room at a hotel-casino and the suspected shooter is facing critical injuries after turning the gun on himself, police said.
The gunman’s motive wasn’t known but investigators believe it was an isolated incident.

Israel has long been a focal point in international policy for Texas Republican lawmakers. Several current Texas officials have traveled to the country. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick even got baptized in the Jordan River.
But Peggy Fikac, Austin bureau chief for the San Antonio Express News, reports that some aspects of these trips have come with hefty price tags for the state’s taxpayers. Continue reading “Security Tab For Top Officials’ Israeli Visits Tops $150,000”
We live in an era when a Nobel Peace Prize winner an oversee 8 years of war, thousands of extrajudicial drone bombings and killing of innocent people, and no one calls into question the credentials of the Nobel organization. As the Obama presidency came to its end, many hoped that we may see a turn for the better in terms of military spending and the overuse of military power as a form of international diplomacy, but our hopes have been officially dashed.
The Trump administration is continuing the imperial legacy of modern American presidents and during his first year of office, the defense industry saw a banner year of international sales. Continue reading “2017 Proves to Have Been a Banner Year for the Military Industrial Complex”

A 25-year-old man has been arrested over an alleged prank call that led to police killing a man in Kansas on Thursday, Los Angeles police said.
Tyler Barriss from South Los Angeles was arrested Friday, according to ABC station KABC in Los Angeles.
The incident took place late Thursday when police were called about a supposed domestic incident at a Kansas man’s home, where he had shot his father and was holding his other family members at gunpoint, police said in a press conference Friday. When police arrived, the man who opened the door was told to raise his hands — a command he obeyed until he moved his hands down to his waist, police said. The 2017-2018 flu season has shown to be particularly nasty this year — in part, they believe, because of a less effective vaccine. Each month, flu cases have multiplied and the CDC has already warned this year’s flu will be worst than the last. To date, 23 states are showing widespread influenza levels and many believe this season could easily reach epidemic levels.
